Video 7: Climbing & Pruning the Battered Oak - Part 1
One Saturday afternoon in August I got myself up the battered oak to make all the pruning cuts required to put this tree into better shape. It didn't go according to plan with the technology...
In this one I really wanted to carry out all of the work outlined in “The battered oak - a windfallen birch smashes up an already smashed up oak tree.”
However, the footage didn’t go according to plan. Like a fool, I didn’t properly check the camera angle to make sure the chainsaw was in shot and so the money shots are missing. Plus, like an even bigger fool I missed the warning about the memory card being nearly full because I was cutting with a saw and hence, lost a load of footage and made a video without an end.
Doh.
Even so, in the end I decided to publish the video to the YouTube for two reasons. First, this time last year I couldn’t climb trees or use a chainsaw in a tree at all and so this alone is a milestone. Secondly, this time next year I’d like to look back and see how my climbing skills have developed.
So here is Life of Treedom video number 7 - Climbing the Battered Oak - Part 1.
Silver linings though – I was much slower doing this work than I thought I would be so there will be a part 2.
Cheers,
Jamie.
p.s - if you’re not subscribed to my YouTube channel, go do that. I’d appreciate it.
😳😨🙈
I got vertigo from watching this video, not nice at all, however, very proud of you for being up there at all…
